As an entrepreneur, I know there are many marketing platforms and opportunities. There is a constant bombardment of other marketing options that claim to help you get your name out there.
This year has been about clarity and simplicity. When offers come into my inbox or through social media feeds, promising to highlight me as the best female coach or to automatically get 100 leads if I do just one thing, I have decided to be discerning about this information. I check to see if it is a scam or fraud and then ask for three references. I also use ChatGPT to help me formulate questions to ask the marketer about my return on investment if I fork out $500 to $5000.
This process takes time, and I admit, I suffer from shiny object syndrome. Wanting to make ends meet or trying to pay off a bill, I often think the marketing offer sounds hopeful. However, I now recognize this as a roadblock, leading me down a path I didn't plan.
I need to be more intentional and take my time to evaluate the marketing options I already have. I may try one or two this year, but that’s it. I don't think my budget can take any more of the "you will get $10,000 if you just follow the formula" pitches.
The entrepreneurial journey is full of ups and downs, and I probably created some of those. However, I have faith in what I do. I understand that my innate talent or gift is not from me but from God. Transformational coaching for people going through change or conflict is the spark that lights up, not my neuropathways; I see it happening to my clients.
Having clients recognize the changes in themselves is all the marketing I need.
