The Power of Support in Business
April is tax season for individuals and businesses alike, and as I reflect on my own business journey, I realize just how many factors come into play over the years. For a business to thrive, you need more than just a great idea or a solid plan—you need the right support to help you navigate the challenges and growth. And for me, it’s been a journey of finding the right people and tools to support my business every step of the way.
When I first started my business, I quickly realized that I couldn’t do it all on my own. One of the biggest lessons I learned was that having the right people around you is crucial. For example, it took me a while to find the right accountant and CRM system that truly fit my needs. My first few accountants were well-meaning, but they didn’t quite understand the unique needs of a solopreneur. They were used to working with companies that had employees, which was not where my business was at the time. The second accountant I worked with retired, and I was fortunate to be referred to my current accountant, an enrolled agent and CPA who truly gets it. She is proactive, reminding me of deadlines like my general excise tax, tracking my expenses, and offering helpful discounts when my business faces financial challenges. She is not just an expert in her field; she is also someone I can trust as a human being who has my back.
My CRM journey was equally as long and arduous, taking over five years to find the right solution. I tried many different systems, but none of them offered the all-in-one functionality I needed. Then I found You Can Automate, a program that combined marketing, calendar, phone, text, and CRM capabilities into one powerful tool. But finding the right tool wasn’t enough—I needed someone to help me stay accountable to my sales goals and ensure the system worked for me. That’s when I found an amazing coach who helped me navigate the system, and she was incredibly understanding when my business was hit by a scam that set us back. Thanks to her, I could keep moving forward with my business goals.
Lastly, I couldn’t have made it this far without my Virtual Assistant (VA). She’s been an invaluable resource, helping me with everything from marketing to brainstorming innovative ways to connect with my audience. She’s like my second brain, always thinking of new ideas and saving me time and money. Her work in social media growth and integrating the CRM program into my marketing efforts has been a game-changer. She doesn’t just get tasks done—she’s constantly looking for ways to improve and grow the business organically.
